Students are expected to attend all classes on time. Students participation is an important aspect of the class, and this will be reflected in grading.
There will be approximately ten problem sets assigned during the term. Students are encouraged to discuss the homework problems among themselves, but each student must write up the solutions individually. Everyone is expected to hand in all problem sets. Handing in problem sets late is discouraged, but may be possible in unusual circumstances (ask in advance). Papers will be returned with comments.
Reading assignments are given for most classes. Students should do this reading in advance.
