Syllabus

Requirements and Grading
There are three sets of requirements for this course:
  1. Readings  - The only required reading is: Rosen, Harvey S. Public Finance, Sixth Edition. New York: McGraw-Hill, 2002.
  2. Exams - There will be midterm exam worth 30% of the grade, and a final worth 50%.
  3. Problem Sets - There will be 5 problem sets throughout the semester, each of which will consist of both mathematical exercises and essay questions. This requirement will be worth the remaining 20% of the grade. NO LATE PROBLEM SETS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR ANY REASON.
Individual Versus Joint Work

Students may work together to solve problem sets. However, each student must submit his or her own individual work. All assignments will be graded individually. Students may not work together during mid-term or final exams. Unauthorized collaboration during exams is considered a breach of academic honesty.

Academic Honesty

When we suspect that a student has engaged in academic dishonesty, we will follow the procedures described in the latest MIT Guidelines on Academy Honesty, which are given in detail in MIT's Policies and Procedures.
