A line verifier is presented which, given the co-ordinates of the end points of the hypothesized line, returns a (possibly) more accurate version of the end points, together with an estimate of the probability that there is a line in the region between the two end points given. No estimate is given as to the actual extent of the line: the increased accuracy of the returned end points lies in the accuracy of the slope and intercept of the line through them.en
