We derive an asymptotic series in [omega]p -2 , the inverse-square plasma frequency, for the self-consistent, low frequency electrostatic field in tori. The derivation is consistent with the drift-kinetic ordering and may be used in either instability or equilibrium calculations. We find that in a time-dependent formalism, the electric field is completely determined to first order in a drift-kinetic expansion.en_US
