This report, No. 112 in a series of quarterly progress reports issued by the Research Laboratory of Electronics, is devoted exclusively to statements of the research objectives of groups in RLE and summaries of their progress during the past year. The decision to postpone the customary detailed reports of projects for the three-month period ending November 30, 1973, and to incorporate them in QPR No. 113, was made so that this January report would present a concise overview of research progress in 1973. Over a period of years there have been shifts in research emphasis, and these are reflected in some changes in section titles. It will also be noted that each research summary now acknowledges the source of support. A research support index facilitates easy reference by grant or contract number. The changes in format and content of QPR No. 112 represent part of an ongoing review of RLE publication practices intended to make the reports more effective and, if possible, to reduce costs.
